FAQ
Answers to some of the most common questions about Consculpt concrete basins, installation, colours, care and delivery.
Where are Consculpt basins made?
Every Consculpt basin is individually handcrafted in Wānaka, New Zealand from Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC).
What are your lead times?
As our products are made to order, our typical lead time from order to delivery is approximately 3–6 weeks. If your project has a particular deadline, please contact us before ordering and we can discuss current production timing.
Do you deliver throughout New Zealand?
Yes. Consculpt basins and bathroom pieces can be delivered to projects throughout New Zealand. Delivery requirements vary depending on the product and destination.
What type of basin waste do I use?
You can purchase a matching Consculpt concrete pop-up waste to complement your basin. Alternatively, our basins are compatible with a standard 32mm basin waste.
How should my basin be installed?
Consculpt basins should be installed by a qualified plumber. Correct support, plumbing and installation are important to the performance and longevity of the finished piece.
Can a Consculpt basin be wall hung?
Compatible Consculpt basins can be installed using our specially designed wall-hanging brackets to create a clean, floating appearance. Each bracket set is supplied with installation information and a basin mounting guide.
Are colour samples the same as the finished basin?
Our colour samples provide a close representation of the colour and material character of our finished basins. Samples are partially sealed, while finished products receive our complete protective sealing system.
Because every sample and basin is individually poured, no two pieces are exactly alike. Slight variations in colour, texture and appearance between a sample and the finished product are a natural part of handcrafted concrete.
What are the small holes in my basin?
Small surface holes, often called pinholes, can naturally occur during the hand-casting process. They are a characteristic of concrete rather than a manufacturing defect and contribute to the individual character of each piece.
How are Consculpt basins sealed?
Our basins are finished with multiple coats of a specialist water-based polyurethane sealer and a nano-ceramic top coat to provide additional protection for bathroom use.
Are the basins scratch and stain resistant?
Our sealing system provides excellent stain and scratch resistance, but the surface should still be treated with care. Non-abrasive cleaning products are important for maintaining the finish. See our Care Guide for cleaning and maintenance advice.
Do I need to reseal my basin?
Our sealing system is designed to provide long-lasting protection. Ongoing care and maintenance will help preserve the finish, and you should avoid applying third-party sealers or coatings without checking with Consculpt first. Refer to our Care Guide or contact us if you are unsure.
Can you make a custom concrete basin or vanity top?
Yes. Selected Consculpt designs can be customised, and we also create bespoke concrete pieces for projects where a standard size or configuration is not suitable. Contact us with your dimensions and project requirements to discuss what is possible.
